Squadron

 

The basis of the ATC is the Squadron
Some Squadrons may have a smaller "Detached Flight" Under its control if there is a suitable location that will not support a Squadron.
There are Approximately 1000 Squadrons & Detached Flights.

Squadrons are run by Volunteer Officers, Adult NCOs, Civilian Instructors & Civilian Committees.


 

Wing

Region

Squadrons are organised on a Geographical basis in to Wings, each Wing has its own HQ with a small full-time administrative staff.

There are thirty six Wings in the UK.1094 Squadron is part of Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing

The Wings each report to one of six Regions, each with is own Commandant, who is a RAF Reserve Officer.

Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing is part of Central & East Region

 

Corps

 

Headquarters Air Cadets at RAF Cranwell is the national HQ for all the ATC units & units of the CCF (RAF Sections) in the country.

The Commandant of the ATC is a serving RAF Officer.

RAF

 

Headquarters Air Cadets is part of RAF No 22 (Training) Group of  Air Command RAF.

Policy matters are decided by the Air Cadet Council, which in turn has representation on the Air Force Board.
