The Air Cadet Organisation (ACO) receives sponsorship from the Royal Air Force and many people believe, wrongly, that all Air Cadets activities are covered by this.
In fact the ACO, which has registered charity status, relies heavily on the generous support of its other sponsors and supporters at local and National level for much of its ability to provide such an impressive and worthwhile service to the young people who join.
Each Squadron has a Civilian committee whose responsibility it is to raise funds for the provision of equipment and facilities for it's Squadron.
Other than Flying, Gliding and Shooting and some sporting activities all other activities are funded through local fundraising.
Fundraising is very important as all expenses not paid for from public money, must be met by the Squadron itself. .
One of the major costs for the Squadron is the provision and maintenance of the squadron mini-bus which is used to transport cadet to & from the many activities they participate in each year.
